| The Great Pondhawk (Erythemis vesiculosa) is a widespread species occurring from the southern U.S. south to Argentina. In the U.S. is is not usually abundant, but occurs from Florida westward into Texas and occasionally New Mexico. It has been recorded as far north as Missouri and Kansas. The Great Pondhawk shown in the first shot here was a digital capture with a Canon EOS 10D and an EF 70-200 F/2.8 L IS lens in Starr County, Texas in November, 2003. |  |
