The Emma's Dancer (Argia emma) is a damselfly on the northwestern quarter of the United States. The first 4 images shown here of a male, then two females and then another male, were taken on the Snake River at Massacre Rocks State Park, Power Co., Idaho, in July, 2008. The shots were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender.
The next 4 images of Emma's Dancers were taken along the South Fork John Day River, Grant Co., Oregon, in July, 2008. Two of the images show a cluster of pairs of these insects while the females are ovipositing in some floating vegetation.
This shot shows a male and a mostly submerged female while she is ovipositing.
A tandem pair of Emma's Dancers is seen resting on a rock.
