Desert Firetail
Telebasis salva
The Desert Firetail (Telebasis salva) is a tiny damselfly of the southwest. The first photos here, of a male, were digital captures in Austin, Travis Co., Texas in Ma,y 2003, and were shot with a Canon EOS 10D and EF 300 mm F4 L IS lens with a 1.4X extender and 550 EX flash. This shot was taken in May, 2005, in Medina Co., Texas, along Seco Creek near D'Hanis.
The male Desert Firetail here was photographed in southern Tamaulipas, Mexico, in May, 2007. This image was taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender.
The pair of Desert Firetails in copula on the right was photographed in Burnet Co., Texas, in June, 2003.
The male Desert Firetail on the right was in Lampasas, Lampasas Co., Texas, in September, 2011. This shot was taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV and a Sigma 50-500mm lens and Canon 580 flash.
