Neoerythromma cultellatum
The Caribbean Yellowface (Neoerythromma cultellatum) is found from Florida and Mexico southward into Central America. It has only been known from Texas for a few years where it can be found along the Rio Grande as well as ponds and resacas in Hidalgo and Cameron Counties in the Lower Rio Grande Valley. The images here were digital captures in Brownsville, Cameron Co., Texas in October 2003 with a Canon EOS 10D and EF 70-200 mm F2.8 L IS lens with a 2X extender and a 550 flash.
The male Caribbean Yellowface in the next two shots was near Mission, Hidalgo Co., Texas, in April, 2008. These shots were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender.
