Blue Corporal
Ladona deplanata
The Blue Corporal (Ladona deplanata) is a moderate sized southeastern dragonfly which reaches its western limit in central Texas. The first three shots on this page were digital captures with a Canon 10D and EF 70-200 F/2.8 L IS lens and 2X extender and 550 EX flash in the Sam Houston National Forest, San Jacinto Co., Texas in early April, 2004. There are two shots of males, one on the ground and one resting on the trunk of a pine tree and also a shot of a female on the ground.
The female Blue Corporal shown here was in Austin, Travis Co., Texas in March, 2005. It was shot with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender. This represented the first record for the county.
The Blue Corporals in the next 3 shots here were in Houston Co., Texas, in March, 2008. These images were shot with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender.
The male and female Blue Corporals in the next 2 shots were in the Angelina National Forest, Jasper Co., Texas, in April, 2010. A Canon EOS 1D Mark IV and an EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender and 580 flash was used for these images.
