Beaverpond Clubtail
Gomphus borealis
The Beaverpond Clubtail (Gomphus borealis) is a species of the northeastern United States and southeastern Canada. As the common name implies, it is often found in beaver pond habitats and may be locally common. The first 5 shots on this page (3 females and 2 males) were taken at Tamarack Swamp, Clinton Co., Pennsylvania, in June, 2010, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV and an EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender and 580 flash.
The female Beaverpond Clubtail shown here was at Buzzard Swamp, Forest Co., Pennsylvania, in June, 2010. The same photo gear as above was used.
The next 2 shots of a male Beaverpond Clubtail were taken in June, 2010, near 1000 Acre Heath, ca. 10 mi S of Lee, Penobscot Co., Maine, also with the same gear described above.
