The Band-winged Dragonlet (Erythrodiplax umbrata) is a medium sized dragonfly which occurs in the U.S. mainly in Texas and south Florida. The image shown here was shot in June, 2003, in Burnet Co., Texas with a Canon EOS 10D and EF 70-200mm F/2.8 L IS lens with a 2X extender and 550 EX flash.
The perfect confusing dragonfly might be a young Band-winged Dragonlet which does not look much like the adult. This one was photographed in Starr Co., Texas in November, 2003, with a Canon EOS 10D and an EF 70-200 mm F/2.8 L IS lens with a 2X extender and flash.

Here are two more shots of the perfect "confusing dragonfly" since as immatures, the Band-winged Dragonlet does not appear to look like the adult. The adult below was near Millwood Lake in the Saline River bottomlands in Howard Co., Arkansas. It was photographed with the same equipment as the two shots just above. This represented the 1st record for Howard County, Arkansas.
