Argia pallens
The Amethyst Dancer (Argia pallens) is a southwestern damselfly occurring south to Guatemala. It is very rare in west Texas but more expected in parts of New Mexico and Arizona. The shot shown here was taken in April, 2005, along the San Carlos River in Graham Co., Arizona with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and an EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 580EX flash.
The next two shots show female Amethyst Dancers at Sabino Canyon, Tucson, Pima Co., Arizona, in May, 2008. These shots were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender.
