Common Goldeneye
Bucephala clangula
The Common Goldeneye (Bucephala clangula) is a diving duck which nests across much of Canada and Alaska while wintering across most of the United States on both fresh and salt water. The first two images on this page show an immature male Common Goldeneye which had spent the winter in Austin, Travis Co., Texas. These two shots were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 800mm F/5.6 L IS lens and 1.4X extender in March, 2009.
The male Common Goldeneye on the right was in Austin, Travis Co., Texas, in December, 2010.
